Oyster Bay business reviews, phone numbers, addresses, maps & driving directions of Oyster Bay, New York businesses
Oyster Bay is the only town in Long Island that extends from the North Shore to the South Shore providing a wonderful and unique area with 18 villages and 18 hamlets within its boundaries. This area was once part of the colony of New Amsterdam and in 1639. English settlers purchased land in the area in 1653 from the Matinecock Indian tribe and in 1667; the settlement received its charter from the English colony of New York and became the Township of Oyster Bay. After World War II, housing developments sprang up as farmland was sold. Today, there are still around 40 historical sites in the area that are known as Town of Oyster Bay Landmarks.
The area is served by Oyster Bay – East Norwich Central School District with one pre-kindergarten school, one elementary school, one middle school, and one high school. The area offers a wide array of businesses, shopping, and parks for residents and visitors alike.
The most popular attractions in Oyster Bay include the Bailey Arboretum, Battle Row Campground, Bayville Historical Museum, Bertha & Reginald Rose Refuge, Bethpage State Park, and Bill Paterson Nature Center.
